Last month, on my blog, I posted a copy of an e-mail I sent to my high school English teacher, along with some realizations I had about great teaching.
Today, I received a reply from that wonderful teacher! She must be at least 90 by now, by all calculations (maybe even closer to 100, seriously).
"I do indeed remember you after looking at your picture. Thank you for the generous comments. I'm so happy that I challenged you. However, you give me too much credit; YOU WERE IDEAL for me to teach: intelligent, self-motivated, highly challenged, eager to learn. You were, my dear, a delight to teach--the reason I went into the profession."
OH, Miss Irwin, Thank you !!!
